Review of Development Cost Charge Program winds downReview of Development Cost Charge Program winds down

Metro Vancouver will wrap up the public consultations next month on its proposed Development Cost Charge (DCC) program rate changes, which are aimed at expanding liquid waste infrastructure to serve the growing population.

Two consultations are slated for Fraser (North) on Monday, October 2 at the Anvil Centre in New Westminster and Lulu on October 3 at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel Richmond. A webinar is also scheduled for October 4.

The proposed changes focus on the principle that ‘growth pays for growth’. The existing DCC rates were established almost 20 years ago and significant changes to cost and growth conditions mean they are not sufficient to sustain funding requirements for growth, particularly in the Fraser Sewerage Area.

The move recognizes that the four sewer areas -- Vancouver, Lulu Island, North Shore and Fraser -- each have a different cost profile as a result of population, growth rate, and prior infrastructure investments. The Fraser Sewerage Area, for instance, includes significant growth development, which requires the extension of trunk lines, new pump stations, new interceptors and a river crossing.

A new DCC bylaw is expected to be brought forward before the end of the year, with an effective date of implementation expected by April 1, 2018.

View committee report

View the consultation

http://heimat-deutschland.info/metroupdate/PublishingImages/issue35-lulu.jpg2017-09-29T07:00:00ZGP0|#910cbf3d-ad4b-48c1-8bf2-299ca0587371;L0|#0910cbf3d-ad4b-48c1-8bf2-299ca0587371|Issue 35;GTSet|#d14ffe11-45dc-48fb-8684-ff109cf15a74

Metro Vancouver will wrap up the public consultations next month on its proposed Development Cost Charge (DCC) program rate changes, which are aimed at expanding liquid waste infrastructure to serve the growing population.
