Interest revving up for electric vehicles at auto showInterest revving up for electric vehicles at auto show<div class="ExternalClass1FF4131BCC4B48039D5BB0A5F69E3354"><p>The Emotive electric vehicle campaign recorded more than a thousand test drives – nearly triple the number in 2015 -- at the Vancouver International Auto Show last month, suggesting the public’s interest in electric vehicles is on the rise.</p><p>Metro Vancouver has been involved in Emotive, a BC-wide campaign to raise public awareness of EVs, for the past four years. At the Vancouver International Auto Show on March 28 to April 2, Emotive ran a test drive program where visitors could test up to 10 different models of plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles. </p><p>There were 1,246 EV test drives this year, up 26 per cent over 2016 and nearly triple the number in 2015.</p><p>Emotive provides a unique service for prospective EV owners -- a single place to try multiple EVs and have technical questions answered by neutral parties without sales pressure. </p><p>Upcoming events include the Ridge-Meadows Home Show on May 6-7, followed by the May Day Festival in Port Coquitlam and Richmond Public Works Open House, which are both slated for May 13.
