Grow in the right places

Why it's important to the region

Directing residential and employment growth to Urban Centres (complete communities around the region that are well-served by transit) gives more people access to jobs and services close to home and eases stress on infrastructure networks. Growth outside of Urban Centres is directed to Frequent Transit Development Areas (FTDAs), which are emerging areas with access to transit service, to create a network of vibrant, livable areas connected by an efficient transit system.
