Remaining Urban Lands performance measure

Approximately 20% of the region’s urban growth is from the development of greenfield lands. These lands are mostly undeveloped areas within the Urban Containment Boundary that are available for future urban development and have a General Urban regional land use designation. These greenfield lands are defined as Remaining Urban Lands that have not been previously developed, and are primarily located in Langley Township, Surrey, Maple Ridge, and West Vancouver.
Metro 2040 vision
About 20-25% of the region’s growth is anticipated to occur on greenfield lands. The other 75-80% of growth will occur through infill and redevelopment in existing urban areas.
