Remaining Urban Development performance measure

Most of the urban development that will take place in the region through 2041 will happen through infill and redevelopment within the Urban Containment Boundary. There is also a small amount of mostly undeveloped land inside the Urban Containment Boundary that is designated General Urban and available for development. Six municipalities have remaining “greenfield” lands designated General Urban with development potential.
Metro 2040 vision
About 20-25% of the region’s growth is anticipated to occur on undeveloped lands designated General Urban within the Urban Containment Boundary. The other 75-80% of growth will occur through infill and redevelopment.
