The Climate 2050 Strategic Plan will guide our region's policies and collective actions to transition our region to a low carbon future, increasing the health, well-being and prosperity of Metro Vancouver residents. It will apply a “climate lens” to all policies and actions to inform climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in the coming years.
Cities and regional governments are at the forefront of global action on climate change. Much of the infrastructure as well as policies and initiatives that impact our neighbourhoods and daily lives fall under local and regional responsibility.
Metro Vancouver and our member jurisdictions have been leaders in climate actions for almost 20 years. All member municipalities are signatories to the BC Climate Action Charter for local governments, and are taking actions to ensure their communities are adapting to climate change and reducing emissions - but we need to do more.
Next steps to developing a strategy
The Climate 2050 Strategic Plan is being developed in collaboration with our cities, residents, businesses, academic institutions, and community partners throughout the Metro Vancouver Region. The strategy encompasses existing plans and commitments, and will then look ahead to build on these initiatives and identify our next priorities for action.

of ten Issue Areas to help define and cluster priorities for action.
Throughout May and June 2018, Metro
Vancouver hosted a series of public dialogues, with invited guest presenters
